Melania's Jackets 👑
I can’t stop thinking about Melania and her message jacket, seen only from her backside. What does it mean? Does it mean what I think it means? It really looks like an act of rebellion of a newly separated woman, a big “screw you” to whomever is oppressing her. White sneakers instead of stilettos is another clue – she looks ready to sprint, to flee, with her last message fading into the distance: “I really don’t care, do U?”
Who is it meant for? I think the President thinks it was directed at him and at his needs. He tried to own it by explaining it and repeating it word for word, in ALL CAPS, and perhaps he’s right. We’ll all know everything, eventually. One day we’ll learn if any of the rumors about any of the principals in this drama are true. Until then, we like to play detective, and like Columbo, you have to examine credible evidence.
Because we can’t believe everything we hear these days, it becomes ever more important to look for visual clues, whether planned or not, from our political leaders. There’s only so much you can do to polish up your image if there are hundreds – sometimes thousands – of cameras recording your every move. Our First Lady is a professional model, and when she speaks rarely, it’s in a voice heavy with Swarovski accents, her words sharp and precise.
And then suddenly, she shattered her glittery image with a cheap message-jacket from a company known for racist, anti-semitic statement garments. She usually wears a higher-priced jacket when she’s out and about. The pretty flowered one in the radiant Italian sun is from Dolce & Gabbana and it’s merely slung over her shoulders, as if it will be discarded soon, never to be worn again. It was hardly worn that one time, for $51,500. That’s a lotta flowers. 🐔
